Samsung Health app to get AI upgrade with new features

Samsung announced updates to its Samsung Health app that introduce AI tools for interpreting biometric data. The changes are set to begin rolling out on June 8 ahead of a rumored Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 launch this summer.

The new capabilities include Vitals, which calculates a daily energy score from heart rate, respiratory rate and other metrics to flag potential illness or need for rest. Heart Health Score combines vascular load data with body composition to assess long-term heart health impacts from user habits. Daily Cardio Load tracks cardiovascular strain and suggests training goals and rest periods. Fitness Index compares users' heart rate, VO2 Max and steps against others in the app to highlight strengths and weaknesses. The app interface will reorganize insights into five categories: Sleep, Nutrition, Activity, Mindfulness and Vitals. Additional tools such as Antioxidant Index, Ages Index and a hearing protection feature will also be added. Hon Pak, senior vice president and head of the digital health team at Samsung Electronics, said the updates connect Galaxy Watch data with AI insights to help users understand their physical and mental condition more intuitively.
