President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo confirmed the previously approved 13% national minimum wage rise to 315.04 pesos daily (from 278.80 pesos) and 5% in the Northern Border Free Zone to 440.87 pesos (from 419.88 pesos), effective January 1, 2026.
This follows a 110% real-terms increase during Andrés Manuel López Obrador's administration, reversing decades of stagnation. Labor Secretary Marath Bolaños noted benefits for over 8.5 million workers.
The Labor Secretariat released updated rates for various professions, most aligning with the Northern Border Free Zone rate of 440.87 pesos daily, including masons, electricians, cooks, agricultural day laborers, bulldozer operators, and cash register cashiers. Higher rates apply to some roles, such as print media reporters at 705.46 pesos.
These adjustments aim to enhance incomes for both formal and informal sector workers.
