Sifuna removed from Senate minority whip role after meeting

A surprise Wednesday night meeting of ODM senators led to Edwin Sifuna's removal from his position as minority whip.

The meeting took place at Ledama ole Kina's office after senators received short notice. Tom Ojienda said he personally moved the motion to remove Sifuna.

Speaker Amason Kingi confirmed the changes and Eddy Gicheru Oketch assumed the role. The move followed Sifuna's earlier loss of other positions in the party and Senate.

Some senators had attended a lunch with President William Ruto at State House the same day. Sifuna vowed to challenge his removal as ODM Secretary General.
