Jannik Sinner's coach Darren Cahill has detailed the world number one's upcoming schedule after securing his second straight Wimbledon title. The Italian defeated Alexander Zverev in four sets on Sunday to extend his winning streak to 34 matches. Cahill confirmed the team will decide on participation in the North American hard-court events.
Cahill spoke at the final Wimbledon press conference about the three-week gap before the Canadian Open. He noted the extra recovery time compared to last year when Sinner skipped the event due to a shorter turnaround.
"This year there are three weeks," Cahill said. "It’s within the planned schedule. We will sit down as a team to decide Jannik’s competition plan from now on. The Masters 1000 are incredibly important tournaments."
The Canadian Open runs from August 2 to August 13 in Montreal where Sinner is entered as the top seed. Cahill also praised the player's resilience after earlier setbacks including a French Open loss.
"There’s been a few kicks in the stomach along the way," the coach added. "But probably what makes us the most proud of him is the way he comes back from those."
