Jannik Sinner advanced to the Wimbledon fourth round on Friday with a straight-sets victory over Jenson Brooksby. The defending champion won 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 on No. 1 Court.
Sinner controlled the two-hour, 14-minute match against the American, ranked No. 81. He broke serve at key moments and finished with 13 aces while winning 87 percent of first-serve points.
Brooksby competed steadily from the baseline and limited unforced errors to 21. He converted two of five break-point chances but could not maintain consistent pressure on Sinner's serve.
In his post-match press conference, Sinner said the win was an improvement. “Yeah, much better match from my side. Of course, happy to be through this one,” he said. He also noted the crowd's role in helping him close out the match after missing earlier opportunities.
The four-time Grand Slam champion improved to 2-0 against Brooksby and will face the round of 16 next in his title defense.
