The Legal Medical Service returned the bodies of the six victims of Sunday's crash at Viña del Mar's Caupolicán fair on Monday. Authorities announced support for families as the investigation continues.
The Legal Medical Service of Valparaíso confirmed the return of the bodies after completing autopsies and identification procedures. Service director Marcos Faundes stated that the handover began at three in the afternoon on Monday.
The crash occurred around 08.38 hours on Sunday, July 12. An SUV driven by Jonathan David Richards Gaete, a Navy employee, struck a group of people at the fair. Six people died and seven were injured.
The victims include Sonia Oyarzún Rojas, O’Higgins Rubén Olmedo Uribe, John Millacura with his daughters Belén and Nicole Millacura Villegas, and Javier Sepúlveda Herrera. The suspect remains in custody until Wednesday, July 15, when his formalization hearing for accident resulting in death and serious injuries is scheduled.
Government authorities announced support measures that include funeral procedures, psychological assistance, and labor reintegration for the affected families.
