South Ethiopia Women's Federation Credits Active Role in Seventh General Election

The South Ethiopia Region Women's Federation has stated that women's active participation was key to the success of the region's seventh general election. The federation said the vote concluded peacefully and democratically.

The federation said in a statement issued on May 30, 2018 EC that the election was peaceful, democratic, fair and free. Federation president Mrs. Alemitu Hailemichael noted the high level of women's participation as observers. She recalled that the federation provided various trainings to involve women as observers. According to federation general secretary Mrs. Masresha Zerihun, 2,953 women observed the vote at 2,630 polling stations on a permanent and mobile basis.
