Detroit indie rocker Stef Chura will release her first album in seven years on October 2. Dancing Alone on the Concrete arrives via Saddle Creek and features contributions from R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Mike Mills.
The lead single “Danny” includes guitar and bass from Buck and Mills. Apples in Stereo co-founder Robert Schneider produced the full record.
Chura described the song’s origins in a statement. She met a traveler in New Orleans and wrote the track as an ode to the fantasy of a sweeping romance.
Chura is scheduled to tour after the album’s release, opening for Dinosaur Jr. on select dates.
The tracklist includes ten songs, starting with “Leadweight” and ending with “Heavy Hitter.”
