Ted season 2 sets March 2026 premiere on Peacock

Peacock has confirmed that the second season of Seth MacFarlane's 'Ted' prequel series will premiere on March 5, 2026, with all eight episodes available at once. The show, which became Peacock's most-watched original title in its debut year, returns after a two-year hiatus. Returning cast members include Max Burkholder as John and MacFarlane voicing the titular teddy bear.

Release Details

The announcement comes just over two years after 'Ted' Season 1 debuted on January 11, 2024, consisting of seven episodes that quickly made it Peacock's top original series through its first three days. Season 2 expands to eight episodes, set to drop simultaneously on the streaming platform. This prequel to the 'Ted' film franchise is written, directed, and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, who also voices and provides motion capture for the foul-mouthed teddy bear. Co-showrunners Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh join him, alongside executive producers Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, and Aimee Carlson from Fuzzy Door. The series is produced by UCP, Fuzzy Door, and MRC.

Cast and Setting

'Ted' is set in 1993 in a working-class Boston home—or more precisely, Framingham, Massachusetts—19 years before the events of the first 'Ted' movie. It follows teenager John Bennett, played by Max Burkholder ('Parenthood'), navigating high school with his best friend Ted, who offers questionable advice but unwavering loyalty. John's parents are portrayed by Scott Grimes ('The Orville') as Matty and Alanna Ubach ('Euphoria') as Susan, while Giorgia Whigham ('13 Reasons Why') plays his cousin Blaire.

The official logline describes: 'Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted's willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.' First-look photos from the new season have been released, showcasing the ensemble, though a trailer is pending.

Future Projects

Beyond the live-action prequel, Peacock is developing 'Ted: The Animated Series,' a sequel picking up after 'Ted 2' and reuniting film stars Mark Wahlberg as John, MacFarlane as Ted, Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn, and Amanda Seyfried as Sam L. Jackson. No release date has been announced for the animated project.
