Keith Washington faces murder charges after allegedly shooting his estranged wife Tynice Friday dead in their Houston home, with their 6-year-old son calling 911 to report the incident. Deputies responded around 10 p.m. Saturday to the 14000 block of Cypress Falls Drive. Washington surrendered following a standoff with SWAT.
Harris County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home after the boy reported that his father had killed his mother. The child attempted to aid Friday, but she was beyond help and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined that Washington shot out a living room window from outside before entering and shooting her, according to deputies. Friday had expressed fear for her safety due to her husband's recent behavior, deputies noted in their report. Records indicate she filed for divorce in December, and Washington no longer lived at the residence. He had a prior arrest in 2019 for allegedly assaulting Friday by choking her, though that case was dropped. Washington fled the scene in a silver truck. A helicopter helped deputies track him to a dead-end road, where he fired a gunshot from the vehicle, prompting an hourslong SWAT standoff. He eventually surrendered and remains in Harris County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 15.
