On Monday, Tripura's ruling BJP celebrated the party's convincing victory in the by-election to the Dharmanagar assembly constituency in north Tripura. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, his ministerial colleagues, and party leaders took part in a victory procession in Agartala.
The saffron party retained the Dharmanagar seat, with its candidate Jahar Chakraborti defeating CPI(M)'s Amitabha Datta by over 18,000 votes. Chakraborti received 24,009 votes in the multi-cornered contest.
The celebrations also marked BJP's wins in West Bengal and Assam, though the focus remained on the Dharmanagar result.
