Addis Ababa. Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries has closed its online sales platform that allowed Ethiopian manufacturers and traders to reach Russian buyers directly.
The firm collaborated with Ethio Post to streamline shipping and logistics. Deta Yidneqahew Werqu from the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration stated it aligns with the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy.
Wildberries Ethiopia director Brook Genene said, "It creates opportunities for local producers of coffee, leather, and similar goods to access global markets directly." The company boasts over 20 years of experience and more than 81 million customers.
Building on a partnership with Ethiopian Investment Holdings, it aims to expand digital trade. Currently, Wildberries plans to import various products for Ethiopian consumers.
