The Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de Tamaulipas detained 18-year-old Danna Yanina “C” for her alleged role in the July 17 death of 13-year-old Dafne Zapata Quintos at the Academia Militarizada Doenitz in Ciudad Madero.
Officers from the state attorney general’s office executed the arrest warrant on the night of Wednesday, July 22, while the young woman was giving a statement at the Fiscalía Especializada en Niñas, Niños, Adolescentes y Mujeres in Tampico. Danna Yanina “C” worked as an assistant to instructor “Estrellita” in the female section of the summer camp.
The detainee was transferred to the Fiscalía facilities in Ciudad Madero and placed at the disposal of the authorities. The Fiscalía has kept the specific charges under reserve and she is expected to appear before a control judge in Altamira.
The girl’s mother, Alejandra Quintos, led a march on July 22 demanding justice in the case, which is being investigated as feminicidio. President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that it is the state government’s responsibility to review the operation of these private educational centers with military-style training, which have no link to the SEDENA.
