Aditya Roy Kapur and Mohit Suri deny reunion rumors for new film

Speculation about a potential reunion between actor Aditya Roy Kapur and director Mohit Suri for a new musical romantic drama has been quashed by both parties. The duo, known for their work on Aashiqui 2 and Malang, clarified in recent interviews that no professional discussions have taken place. Fans hoping for another collaboration will have to wait longer.

Mohit Suri, fresh off the success of his blockbuster Saiyaara, which starred Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and grossed over Rs. 500 crore worldwide, is developing his next project—a musical romantic drama. Early rumors suggested Aditya Roy Kapur would lead the film, marking a reunion after their collaborations on Aashiqui 2 and Malang. However, reports later emerged claiming the actor had walked out of the project.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Suri dismissed the speculation outright. He explained that his interactions with Kapur are purely social, stating, “I meet Aditya Roy Kapur and Shaad Randhawa to play cricket. We hang out together.” The director emphasized, “Aditya is a close friend of mine, but we haven't met for work at all. The script that I am working on is not even ready, and no discussions have happened on the same. The script that I am writing isn't for Aditya Roy Kapur. I will reveal everything once my script and cast is in place.”

Kapur echoed this sentiment, highlighting their friendly rivalry on the cricket field. He said, “The only place Mohit and I have been meeting is on the cricket field where I've been getting him clean bowled! So, no role is going to be coming my way from there. The news of me opting out of his film is totally false.”

The upcoming film is being produced by Akshaye Widhani, who also backed Saiyaara. Currently in the scripting stage, casting details remain under wraps, leaving anticipation for Suri's next musical romance.
