The Paris administrative court on Friday suspended the police prefect’s ban on a concert planned at Place de la République for Fête de la Musique.
The court ruled that the risks of public disorder cited by the prefect were not sufficiently substantiated. Organizers had announced the event on Sunday and the prefect issued the ban order on Wednesday evening.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon welcomed the ruling by posting “Victory” on X. The police prefecture said it noted the judgment and that conditions were met for the event to proceed safely.
The tribunal noted that neither Assa Traoré nor the rappers Médine and Soso Maness would ultimately take part. LFI had already held similar concerts in 2025 along the Canal Saint-Martin.
