The body of the 14-year-old was found Saturday in a vacant lot in the Ampliación Ferreyra neighborhood. The investigation points to Claudio Barrelier as the main suspect and sole detainee.
Agostina Vega disappeared on Saturday, May 24, after leaving her home in the General Mosconi neighborhood of Córdoba. She was last seen on security camera footage entering the home of Claudio Barrelier in the Cofico neighborhood.
The search involved police operations, raids and the activation of the Alerta Sofía system. Barrelier, the ex-partner of the victim's mother, was detained after giving contradictory accounts about the teenager's whereabouts.
On Saturday authorities confirmed the discovery of human remains in a vacant lot in Ampliación Ferreyra. Prosecutor Raúl Garzón stated there is a 98% chance they belong to Agostina Vega.
The girl's father, Gabriel Vega, said the suspect did not act alone and called for the truth to be told. The case now moves to determine the mechanics of the crime and possible accomplices.
