Spanish airline Air Europa has submitted a request to Colombia's Aeronáutica Civil to add a new direct route between Madrid and Barranquilla.
The request was filed on June 22, 2026. The airline seeks to operate three weekly frequencies on the Madrid-Barranquilla-Madrid route under the third and fourth freedoms of the air.
The Aeronáutica Civil stated that publication of the request marks the start of the administrative process. The information will remain available for three days for comments from interested parties, per Colombia's Aeronautical Regulations.
If approved, the route would expand international connections from Barranquilla and strengthen ties between Colombia's Caribbean region and Spain.
