Alexander Zverev defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 to win the 2026 French Open men's singles title. The match lasted four hours and 16 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Zverev, 29, ended a six-year wait for a major title after three previous Grand Slam final losses. He overcame an injury-plagued 2022 French Open semifinal retirement against Rafael Nadal and a 2024 final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz. In his on-court speech, Zverev said the venue held special meaning. “I have had the best moment of my life on this court, and I have had the worst moment of my life on this court,” he said, thanking the crowd for support throughout the tournament. Cobolli, who reached a career-high ranking inside the top 10 after the final, praised his friend. “If someone asked me who deserved this title more, I would always say you,” the Italian said. “It’s been an honor for our relationship to share the court with you today. I’m happy for you.”
