Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has invited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and other APC stakeholders to a reconciliation meeting ahead of the 2027 elections. He announced this after receiving expression of interest and nomination forms from the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) and Benue Motorcycle Owners Association (BMOA). The meeting, planned for Sunday, aims to resolve internal party differences.
In Makurdi, Benue State's capital, Governor Hyacinth Alia announced he had written to Senator George Akume, members of the National and State Assemblies, and other APC stakeholders for an internal reconciliation meeting.
"For those of you who belong to APC, I advise that we come together as one entity. I have written to the SGF, Senator George Akume, inviting him, along with members of the National and State Assemblies and other stakeholders of our party, for an internal meeting," Alia said.
He confirmed all invitees had agreed to attend by Sunday. "We have all agreed that by Sunday, they will come. My delegation will be there, and we will blend and become one. It is very vital for me and for the state," he stated.
The governor stressed unity, saying what divides the party is weaker than what unites it. He expressed confidence the meeting would bring factions together for success in 2027, emphasizing inclusiveness and support for President Bola Tinubu.
Earlier, Nigeria Union of Pensioners state chairman Michael Vember said they bought the forms to appreciate Alia's welfare efforts. Benue Motorcycle Owners Association president Terfa Aha cited improved roads as motivation for fulfilling their support pledge.
