América Femenil and Tigres kick off Liga MX Femenil Apertura 2025 final

América Femenil and Tigres Femenil face off on Thursday at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes for the first leg of the Liga MX Femenil Apertura 2025 final. The teams, with a history of finals clashes, vie for the title in a closely matched encounter. The match starts at 8:00 p.m. central Mexico time.

The first leg of the Liga MX Femenil Apertura 2025 final pits two powerhouses of Mexican women's football: América, who finished third in the regular season with 38 points, 56 goals for and 22 against, against Tigres, the leaders with 42 points, 60 goals scored and only 11 conceded. América ousted Rayadas in the quarterfinals and Chivas in the semifinals with a 4-0 aggregate, while Tigres edged Juárez 1-0 in quarters and beat Cruz Azul in semis.

This marks the fourth finals matchup between the teams. In the previous three, Tigres won two (Apertura 2022 and 2023, both 3-0 aggregate) and América one (Apertura 2018, 3-1 on penalties). Tigres aims for a seventh title, América a third.

Tigres coach Pedro Martínez stated: “It sounds repetitive, but in a final there are no favorites; it shows on the field”. América's Ángel Villacampa said: “I believe this is the most prepared América”. Goalkeeper Sandra Paños highlighted the mindset shift: “We have helped change the mentality that existed, to have different habits”. Irene Guerrero added: “I long for a title”.

The match airs on Canal Nu9ve, TUDN, ViX, and Liga MX Femenil's YouTube. The return leg is November 23 at Estadio Universitario.
