ANC Eastern Cape secretary Ngcukayithobi debunks fake resignation letter

ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Secretary Lulama Ngcukayithobi has dismissed a circulating resignation letter as fake. The letter claimed he was stepping down due to a lack of organisational discipline. Ngcukayithobi confirmed to SABC News that he remains in his position.

Lulama Ngcukayithobi, the ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Secretary, addressed rumours sparked by a forged resignation letter making the rounds on social media and elsewhere. The document purportedly bore his signature and cited reasons for his departure, including a lack of organisational discipline.

Speaking to SABC News, Ngcukayithobi categorically denied authoring or signing the letter. "The first of April is around the corner, I’m certain that they’ve started fooling people around, otherwise I would not have resigned as the provincial secretary of the ANC," he said. He added that the ANC had been preparing for a provincial conference that ultimately could not proceed, affirming his continued role: "I remain the provincial secretary, until otherwise."

Ngcukayithobi noted that while the signature appeared to be his, the letter was manipulated. "I have not written a letter, I have not signed it, and unfortunately, I’m certain that it’s people that are manipulating the news and AI systems," he stated.

The incident comes amid ongoing activities within the ANC Eastern Cape branch, including preparations for internal conferences.
