Annie Potts made her first appearance in nearly a year on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, returning as Meemaw alongside Craig T. Nelson's Dale. In the episode set during the 1996 Beanie Baby craze, Meemaw and Mandy launch a scheme to sell handmade stuffed monkeys. The plot escalates as they enlist Mary's help under false pretenses.
The episode, aired Thursday, picks up with Georgie and Mandy unable to replace their daughter CeeCee's lost stuffed monkey after checking multiple toy stores. Mandy asks Mary to sew a replica, which Mary does willingly. At the park, a mother played by Melissa Tang offers Meemaw $100 cash for the monkey, sparking the idea to produce and sell more as replicas for desperate parents, claiming they are for sick children to convince Mary to continue making them. Mary later suggests involving Sunday school kids in an assembly line to help out, prompting Meemaw to say, 'Kids helping kids... I love it!' Dale quips, 'Now you're turning Sunday school into a sweatshop,' but Meemaw retorts, 'They're little. They don't sweat much.' A potential snag arises when Medford High librarian Sheryl Hutchins, played by Sarah Baker, spots the fakes in a parking lot but declines to buy one due to her aversion to counterfeits. The duo sells out quickly despite the encounter. Meanwhile, Connor finds closure in a subplot, rejecting Chloe's offer to restart after his heartbreak-inspired novelty song 'Do the Axolotl' gains airplay on Dr. Demento. Potts had been absent due to her series-regular role on Fox's Best Medicine.
