Apple has confirmed that iOS 27 will run on the iPhone 11 and newer models. The update was unveiled at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday.
The announcement came during the event, where Apple highlighted compatibility extending back several years. However, the company also detailed that Apple Intelligence features remain limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max along with later devices.
Some advanced AI capabilities require 12GB of unified memory and will only be available on models such as the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max as well as the iPhone Air. Older devices, including the iPhone 14 Pro, will receive the base operating system but not these AI tools.
Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering at Apple, stated that the best operating systems are built on sweating the details.
