Apple is preparing to release its first touchscreen MacBook models equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The devices are expected between late 2026 and early 2027.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said the new 14-inch and 16-inch models will skip the M6 generation for Pro and Max variants. They will instead ship with the high-end M5 chips released earlier this year.
The touchscreen MacBook is also expected to include an OLED display, Dynamic Island interface from the iPhone, and an updated industrial design. Gurman reported that M7 versions of the laptop are already in advanced testing.
Apple plans to introduce the M7 chip in early 2027, with M7 Pro and Max chips arriving a few months later. The M7 Ultra chip is slated for 2028.
