Arttu Ruotsalainen leaves Frölunda for two-year Kloten contract

Finnish center Arttu Ruotsalainen has officially departed Frölunda after two seasons in the SHL. The 28-year-old signed a two-year deal with Swiss club Kloten, returning to the team where he previously played. Frölunda had hoped to retain him following his strong performance this season.

Frölunda had hoped to keep the Finnish center Arttu Ruotsalainen, but on Wednesday, he was presented by his new club. The 28-year-old Finn recorded 32 points (13 goals + 19 assists) in 41 SHL matches this season, placing him second in team scoring behind Jere Innala.

Ruotsalainen is now confirmed to leave Frölunda after two seasons. He is moving back to the Swiss club Kloten, where he has signed a two-year contract extending until 2028.

Kloten's sports chief, Ricardo Schödler, commented on the signing via the club's website: “Arttu is a dynamic player with high speed and a fantastic shot. He is versatile and will be a valuable addition to our offense.”

Ruotsalainen's versatility allows him to play both as a center and a winger. During the 2022/2023 season with Kloten, he tallied 42 points (18 goals + 24 assists) in 52 matches. He has also experience with Lugano in the Swiss league.

In his first season with Frölunda, Ruotsalainen produced 22 points (11 goals + 11 assists) over 43 SHL games. This season, he improved significantly, scoring two more goals and achieving a total of ten additional points in just two fewer games.
