BJP nominates Satish Patel for Manjalpur bypoll

The Bharatiya Janata Party has selected Satish Patel, a cooperative sector veteran from Chhani, as its candidate for the Manjalpur assembly by-election scheduled for July 30.

The Bharatiya Janata Party announced the nomination on Thursday evening. It bypassed several local aspirants for the seat vacated by the death of eight-term MLA Yogesh Patel on June 2.

Satish Patel has held roles including chairman of the Chhani Nagarik Sahakari Bank and director positions in cooperative banks. He served as Vadodara district BJP president from 2000 to 2006 and as chairman of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation standing committee in 2018.

A senior party leader cited the need for a candidate with a clean image and organisational skills amid local factional tensions. Nominations close on July 13.
