The Scottish electronic duo Boards of Canada have announced 'Inferno', their first studio album in 13 years since 2013's 'Tomorrow’s Harvest'. The 18-track LP arrives May 29 via Warp Records, capping a cryptic teaser campaign that included posters, VHS tapes, and the recent track 'Tape 05'.
Brothers Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin of Boards of Canada revealed 'Inferno' on April 22, ending a monthlong mystery that began with VHS tapes sent to fans (featuring 1991 bible school clips and the band's logo), posters reminiscent of their 1998 debut in cities like London and New York, a revived website with cryptic messages, and 'Tape 05'—their first new music in over a decade, as covered previously. The album, their fifth, will be available in formats including limited red translucent 2xLP vinyl (triple gatefold with 16-page booklet), standard black vinyl, CD, and digital. Pre-orders are live via Warp Records. Tracklist: 'Introit', 'Prophecy At 1420 MHz', 'Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan', 'Age Of Capricorn', 'Father And Son', 'Somewhere Right Now In The Future', 'Naraka', 'Acts Of Magic', 'Memory Death', 'The Word Becomes Flesh', 'Into The Magic Land', 'Blood In The Labyrinth', 'Deep Time', 'All Reason Departs', 'Arena Americanada', 'The Process', 'You Retreat In Time And Space', 'I Saw Through Platonia'. Album artwork and a snippet of new music accompanied the announcement on official channels.
