Boero Yacht Coatings partners with Ferrari Hypersail

Boero Yacht Coatings has teamed up with Ferrari's Hypersail project to supply advanced coatings for a high-performance racing yacht. The collaboration focuses on integrating a specialized coating system to boost endurance in offshore races. The partnership was revealed at Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello, Italy.

Boero Yacht Coatings, a brand under Gruppo Boero’s yachting division and a specialist in professional yacht and superyacht coatings, has entered a technical partnership with Ferrari Hypersail. This project involves developing a monohull yacht tailored for offshore endurance races, where all elements form an integrated system to maximize performance.

The Ferrari Hypersail initiative was initially unveiled in January 2024, with additional specifics shared by Ferrari in June 2025. Under this agreement, Boero Yacht Coatings will deliver a full coating system designed to withstand extreme stress and align seamlessly with the yacht's overall architecture. A core aspect is optimizing coating thickness to minimize weight while maintaining durability, allowing the vessel to perform efficiently over water.

The announcement took place during an event at Ferrari's base in Maranello, Italy. Marco Ribigini, team leader for Ferrari Hypersail, highlighted the synergy: “Ferrari Hypersail was created to explore new frontiers of performance based on a fully integrated engineering approach. Against this backdrop, our collaboration with Boero Yacht Coatings has allowed us to develop and integrate a complete coating system, designed to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability under the extreme conditions in which the vessel will operate. Method, discipline and attention to detail are values shared by both Ferrari and Boero.”

Boero describes these coatings as an advancement of its leading technologies, tested in a demanding experimental context where even minor adjustments in weight and thickness influence outcomes. João Serrenho, CEO and president of CIN Coatings—the parent company of Gruppo Boero—emphasized the mutual commitment: “The partnership with Ferrari on the Hypersail project represents the convergence of two industrial cultures geared towards research and continuous improvement. We share an approach based on precision and responsibility. The experience gained through this project strengthens our heritage of expertise and reinforces our capacity to bring tangible innovation to the market.”

Both companies emphasize a shared philosophy of methodical innovation and challenging conventional approaches in pursuit of superior results.
