Bryan Fuller develops TV series with Clive Barker

Bryan Fuller, creator of the TV series Hannibal, is collaborating with horror author Clive Barker on a new television project. Fuller described the endeavor as a dream come true from his childhood. Details about the series remain undisclosed.

Bryan Fuller, known for creating the psychological thriller series Hannibal, has announced a new collaboration with Clive Barker, the renowned horror writer behind works like Hellraiser and Nightbreed. In a recent interview with Screenrant, Fuller shared insights into his upcoming projects, stating, “There’s so much that I want to do. I’m writing a script right now that hopefully will be my next directorial effort, and I’m collaborating with Clive Barker on a new television series that’s very exciting and a dream come true from my childhood. It’s just a matter of time to bring them to life.”

This partnership builds on Fuller's recent feature debut with the film Dust Bunny. Barker, celebrated for his contributions to horror through films such as Hellraiser, Nightbreed, and Lord of Illusions, as well as novels and short stories including one adapted into Candyman, brings a rich legacy to the project. The announcement has sparked interest given Barker's past developments, such as a Nightbreed series with director Michael Dougherty and a Hellraiser series once in talks at HBO in 2021.

While specifics about the series' content are not yet revealed, the collaboration evokes possibilities tied to Barker's iconic franchises, including the Hellraiser reboot directed by David Bruckner in 2022 and the upcoming Hellraiser: Revival video game. However, no confirmation exists on whether the project will adapt any particular Barker property. Fuller and Barker's combined expertise in dark, imaginative storytelling positions this as a noteworthy venture in television horror.
