Canada face Qatar in World Cup 2026 group match

Canada will take on Qatar in their second Group B match at the 2026 World Cup on Thursday evening. The co-hosts are aiming for their first World Cup win after drawing their opening game with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The match kicks off at 11:00pm UK time in Vancouver. Canada drew 1-1 with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their tournament opener after coming from behind.

Coach Jesse Marsch's team will be favorites against Qatar, who earned their first World Cup point with a draw against Switzerland. Canada defender Luc de Fougerolles said the side is focusing on finishing chances.

"We created the chances against Bosnia. The next step is to finish off those chances and kill the game," de Fougerolles said. Alphonso Davies and Moise Bombito remain doubts for Canada due to injury.

Canada have not lost in Vancouver since 2016 and have won their last four matches there. Qatar have no injury concerns ahead of the game.
