The Montreal Canadiens overcame blowing a three-goal lead in the third period to defeat the Seattle Kraken 4-3 in overtime on October 28, 2025, at Climate Pledge Arena. Cole Caufield scored the game-winner 44 seconds into overtime for his second goal of the night. Nick Suzuki extended his point streak to 10 games with three assists.
The Montreal Canadiens built a 3-0 lead in the first two periods against the Seattle Kraken but saw Seattle score three straight goals in the third to force overtime. Cole Caufield opened the scoring at 10:25 of the first period with a snap shot into an open net after a pass from Nick Suzuki, assisted by Noah Dobson. Juraj Slafkovsky made it 2-0 on a power-play one-timer at 17:28, set up by Suzuki and Caufield. Alex Newhook extended the lead to 3-0 at 5:55 of the third with a wrist shot on a pass from Kirby Dach.
Seattle mounted a comeback in the third. Brandon Montour scored a power-play goal at 8:57, tipping a shot from Berkly Catton past Jakub Dobes to make it 3-1. Shane Wright narrowed it to 3-2 at 15:17 with a one-timer from Montour. With Joey Daccord pulled for an extra attacker, Montour tied the game 3-3 at 18:17 on a pass from Vince Dunn.
In overtime, Caufield deked Daccord and tucked the puck under the goalie at 0:44 for the win. "Hockey happens fast, and I saw a hole there, and luckily it went in," Caufield said. Dobes made 18 saves in the victory, stopping all four high-danger shots faced and extending his season-starting winning streak to 6-0-0 with a .930 save percentage and 1.97 goals-against average.
Suzuki's three assists gave him 16 points (2 goals, 14 assists) in his 10-game streak, matching his career high. The Canadiens improved to 8-3-0, winning two straight and four of five. The Kraken fell to 5-2-3 despite the rally. Montour, returning after a four-game absence due to his brother's death, had two goals and an assist. "It's tough we went down 3-0, but get a point," Montour said. Caufield's overtime goal was his 11th career OT tally, passing Howie Morenz and Max Pacioretty for the franchise record.
