Chamber of Deputies opens process against Dayany Bittencourt

The Chamber of Deputies Corregedor has opened a process that could lead to the loss of federal deputy Dayany Bittencourt's mandate. The seat would go to councilor Priscila Costa still in 2026.

Corregedor Diego Coronel started the procedure based on a decision by the Ceará Regional Electoral Court. The measure follows an order from the Superior Electoral Court that annulled votes for Heitor Freire in the 2022 elections.

In May the TRE carried out the vote recount and Dayany Bittencourt lost her mandate. The Corregedor has now granted a deadline for the deputy to appeal before Priscila Costa is sworn in.

Priscila Costa heads PL Mulher in Ceará and was named by Michelle Bolsonaro in a recent video. The councilor is cited as a point of disagreement between Michelle and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro over state candidacies.
