Authorities visited the factory assembling Chile's first hydrogen bus for the Red Movilidad fleet. The vehicle is set to be presented between August and September 2026 and enter service in early 2027.
Authorities from the Ministry of Transport and the Metropolitan Public Transport Directorate visited the Reborn factory today. There, the assembly of Chile's first hydrogen bus for public transport is underway.
The project is part of a public-private agreement funded by the Ministry of Energy, GIZ and the European Union. Red Movilidad's current fleet is already 60 percent electric buses.
Transport Undersecretary Martín Mackenna said the bus will undergo testing and registration after assembly. It will also receive certification from the Vehicle Control and Certification Center.
The vehicle is expected to be operated by RBU Santiago on routes in the capital starting in early 2027.
