The Civil Guard has detained a man as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of his partner in Mairena del Aljarafe, Sevilla. The incident occurred around midnight from Friday to Saturday and is being investigated as gender-based violence.
Agents found the woman dead in a home on Calle San Isidro Labrador after receiving alerts from neighbors and the couple's son, aged about 14. The man, who had self-inflicted wounds from a bladed weapon, was taken to a hospital in Sevilla where he remains detained.
Francisco Toscano, deputy government delegate in Sevilla, has stated that the main hypothesis is a murder due to gender-based violence. No prior complaints or registration of the victim in the VioGen system have been detected.
If confirmed, this would be the sixth fatal victim of gender violence in Andalucía so far this year. Toscano has urged women and their surroundings to report any signs of violence to activate protection protocols.
