CRKD has introduced the Nitro Deck 2, an upgraded controller accessory designed to work with both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. The device incorporates community feedback for improved ergonomics and functionality. It will be available for preorder starting at $99.99, with shipments expected in spring 2026.
Building on the success of its predecessor, CRKD's Nitro Deck 2 addresses common user complaints about the original Nintendo Switch controllers. The new model features CaptiStick Technology, which eliminates stick drift and resists magnetic interference, unlike some Hall effect alternatives. For better comfort, the right thumbstick is offset, and the outer shell has been contoured to fit hands more naturally.
Customization options remain a highlight. Users can still swap out stick tops, and the Nitro Deck 2 now includes interchangeable D-pads. At the rear, additional L2 and R2 shoulder buttons join the programmable back buttons introduced in the first version. Connectivity is versatile: it supports low-latency wired mode via an included adapter or wireless Bluetooth pairing. Beyond Nintendo consoles, the controller functions with PCs, mobile devices, and smart TVs.
A key innovation is the retractable locking mechanism, adjustable to secure either the original Switch, Switch OLED, or the anticipated Switch 2—ensuring compatibility even before the newer console launches. Available in white and smoke black, the Nitro Deck 2 starts at $99.99, a $30 increase from the 2023 original. Optional accessories include a $39.99 carrying case and $19.99 packs for extra D-pads and stick tops. Preorders are open on CRKD's website, with deliveries set for spring 2026.
This release comes amid Nintendo's upgrades to Joy-Con 2 controllers, yet CRKD positions the Nitro Deck 2 as a premium alternative for gamers seeking enhanced control and durability.
