President-elect Abelardo De la Espriella began the first day of regional transition meetings on Wednesday in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander.
The meeting took place at the Norte de Santander Governor's Office with Governor William Villamizar, Mayor Jorge Acevedo and designated ministers. De la Espriella addressed security, public finances and the border with Venezuela.
During the day, the president-elect designated alias Alfred of the ELN and alias Andrey of the FARC dissidents as military targets, giving them one month to surrender. He also confirmed the appointment of General Jorge Mora as defense minister.
De la Espriella announced that Colombia will join the anti-cartel coalition starting August 7. He also reiterated his plan to strengthen decentralization with a direct channel between the Presidency and territorial administrations.
Subsequently, De la Espriella ordered the suspension of the formal transition process with Gustavo Petro's government, claiming it does not recognize the electoral victory.
