Design of Falun 2027 championship hat revealed

Dalarna museum has created the pattern for a special hat that all medalists at the ski world championships in Falun 2027 will receive.

The hat is based on a traditional sock hat from Bjursås held in the museum collections. The colors ochre yellow, gnome red, navy blue, dove blue and natural white come from the world championship logo.

Textile curator Anna-Karin Jobs Arnberg noted that sock hats have long been linked to skiing. She also mentioned Ingemar Stenmark as an example of famous skiers who wore similar hats.

In spring 550 people expressed interest in knitting the hats. Now 190 knitters from different parts of the country have been selected. They will receive yarn and the pattern in August and begin the work then.
