Disney created a decoy version of Toy Story 5 to conceal Taylor Swift's contribution to the film until this week. VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan revealed the measure at a recent panel.
Thomas Jordan, who worked as a VFX supervisor on the film, said only a very small group knew about the song. Disney and Pixar showed press and staffers a version of the finished film without it. “The crew that made Toy Story 5 did not know about this secret until last week,” Jordan said. A decoy version was used in early previews. Swift wrote and produced the track “I Knew It, I Knew You” with Jack Antonoff. She shared it on June 5 after it was announced on June 1. The song is written from the perspective of cowgirl Jessie. Director Andrew Stanton said Swift's connection to the character was immediate. The film is scheduled for release on June 19.
