Egypt’s health minister met Africa CDC’s director general to expand joint work on preventive healthcare and public health infrastructure.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held talks with Africa CDC Director General Jean Kaseya on 15 June. They reviewed ongoing projects and agreed to set up four medical waste disposal sites in Cairo, Assiut, Sohag and Aswan by August.
The minister noted recent deliveries of waste disposal vehicles, sterilisation equipment, refrigerated vaccine trucks and cold storage units from the Africa CDC. Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting also covered training in supply chain management and immunisation.
Deputy Health Minister Amr Kandil, Radi Hamad of the Preventive Medicine Sector and UNICEF’s Natalia Winder Rossi attended the discussions. The cooperation aims to build Egypt’s capacity to respond to disease outbreaks.
