Egypt's Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, visited New Sphinx City after touring Sheikh Zayed City to review ongoing and planned development projects spanning about 85,000 feddans. He chaired a meeting at the New Sphinx City Authority headquarters, assessing the technological center's operations and customer service system while stressing the need to streamline procedures for citizens and investors. He also followed up on 6,863 applications submitted to legalize land status across these feddans.
During his visit to New Sphinx City, positioned west of Cairo as a major urban expansion hub, El-Sherbiny focused on evaluating progress in development projects. At the meeting, officials provided updates on reviewing the 6,863 applications, including expected completion timelines and the status of infrastructure works in legalized areas such as water, sewage, road networks, and electricity.
The discussion also covered the city's strategic and detailed planning frameworks, the schedule for completing and approving planning documents, and the implementation of ministerial decrees related to development projects. The minister reviewed several major infrastructure initiatives, most notably the 16-kilometer Sphinx Axis Road, encompassing its first phase and expansion works.
Updates were given on preliminary road construction, the installation of a 400-500 mm water pipeline along the connecting road from Sheikh Zayed City extensions to the Sphinx Axis, and the first phase of the electrical supply project for axis lighting. Furthermore, the talks addressed procedures for establishing a drinking water intake from the Beheira Canal, constructing a water treatment plant, transmission lines extending about 15 kilometers, and necessary pumping stations. Progress on initial roadworks and utility networks for internal roads in the city's urgent first development phase was also assessed.
This visit is part of the Ministry of Housing's wider efforts to accelerate infrastructure development in New Sphinx City and establish it as a key urban growth center.
