Elena Rybakina deactivated her Instagram account minutes after a quarterfinal defeat at the Queen's Club Championships on Friday. The world No. 2 fell to British wildcard Katie Boulter in a match that followed an earlier victory the same day.
Rybakina, who had already played and won against Tatjana Maria earlier on the rain-delayed schedule, lost 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 to Boulter. The result left her with a 32-9 record for the season.
Within minutes of the loss, her Instagram went dark. This followed her decision to disable comments on posts after a second-round exit at Roland Garros two weeks earlier.
Fans online linked the move to negative messages, many from disgruntled bettors. Some expressed concern over a slip Rybakina suffered during the match, though no injury was confirmed.
Wimbledon is scheduled to begin on June 29.
