Eric Guggenheim hired as new showrunner for Fire Country season five

CBS drama series Fire Country has appointed Eric Guggenheim as its new showrunner for the upcoming fifth season. Guggenheim previously led Magnum P.I. and co-led Hawaii Five-0. This follows the departure of current showrunner Tia Napolitano.

The CBS series Fire Country, which airs on Friday nights, is undergoing a leadership change ahead of its fifth season. According to reports, Eric Guggenheim has been hired as the new showrunner. He brings experience from his role as showrunner on Magnum P.I. and as co-showrunner on Hawaii Five-0.

Tia Napolitano, the current showrunner, announced her exit in February. She confirmed she would not return for the next season. In her statement, Napolitano expressed appreciation for the show's journey: “I am beyond proud of the past four seasons of Fire Country. All of my gratitude to our cast, crew, writers, producers, fans, and of course CBS and CBS Studios. It’s been a beautiful ride!”

Fire Country stars co-creator Max Thieriot alongside Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Jordan Calloway, and Jules Latimer. The series follows Thieriot's character, who begins as a convict seeking to shorten his sentence by joining a California firefighter team. After parole, he transitions into a full firefighter role.

This transition comes as the series prepares for its next chapter, maintaining its focus on the high-stakes world of firefighting and personal redemption.
