Ethiopia and Austria agree to strengthen aviation reforms and sustainable development ties

On Miyazya 12, 2018 EC, in Addis Ababa, President Taye Atske Sillasie and Ethiopian Foreign Minister Dr. Gedion Timotheos met Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral ties, boosting trade and investment, and cooperating on aviation reforms and sustainable development goals.

In Addis Ababa, President Taye Atske Sillasie met Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger to discuss ways to strengthen Ethiopia-Austria bilateral relations through cooperation on shared issues.
The two nations share a long-standing strong partnership in areas such as education, science, and the economy.

Later the same day, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Dr. Gedion Timotheos held talks with Meinl-Reisinger. Gedion highlighted Ethiopia's economic reforms and investment opportunities in hydropower, manufacturing, tourism, and digital infrastructure.
The Austrian minister expressed interest in enhancing business-to-business links, trade facilitation, and institutional partnerships in innovation, technology transfer, and skills development.
Austrian companies reported successful participation at the EU-Ethiopia Business Forum.

The ministers agreed to intensify consultations bilaterally and in multilateral forums, particularly on aviation sector reforms and sustainable development goals.
They affirmed wide-ranging cooperation opportunities in politics, economy, education, culture, and other fields.
