Ethiopia's National Election Board announced that more than 54 million voters have registered for the seventh general election. Residents in Wolkite, Tepi, and Harar cities stated they are ready to cast ballots on May 24. IGAD confirmed ongoing support to ensure the vote is free and credible.
The board chair Melatwork Hailu said 54,571,871 voters have registered. Observers from the African Union and IGAD will monitor the process.
In Finote Selam town election materials are being distributed to 89 polling stations. Coordinator Melesse Getaneh said distribution began today and will intensify tomorrow.
Wolkite resident and teacher Fikadu Tomas said he will vote for the party he believes benefits the country and people. Harar city residents confirmed they are eagerly awaiting election day.
