Major General Feroz Khan has abandoned his court applications to block the Madlanga Commission from accessing his electronic devices. The move followed negotiations and allows investigators to examine contents linked to multiple allegations.
On Monday, Khan withdrew his urgent application against the Madlanga Commission and the South African Police Service regarding devices seized in a May raid on his Houghton home. A court order is expected to formalise the withdrawal. The commission released documents including an affidavit by investigator Tshepo Nyatlo. It details WhatsApp messages between Khan and Mohamed Sayed of Carnilinx tobacco company that allege collusion with EFF leader Julius Malema on tenders and political interference. Khan has been summoned to testify before the commission from 1 July. Separate testimony on Monday from Hawks officer Lieutenant Colonel Nkoana Joseph Sebola addressed messages linked to a R286-million cocaine interception in Aeroton in 2021.
