Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo launches on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S

Following the demo for Final Fantasy 7 Remake last December, Square Enix has released a free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth—the second chapter in the Remake trilogy—on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. The demo covers the game's first two chapters, with progress carrying over to the full release on June 3. Players can also claim bonus items like a kupo charm and survival set if they have demo save data at launch.

The demo became available on April 28 for both platforms, allowing players to experience Chapters 1 and 2 out of the game's 14 chapters. Chapter 1 revisits Cloud's memories of the Nibelheim incident, while Chapter 2 follows the party to Kalm after escaping Midgar in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It includes early semi-open areas, Queen's Blood card games, and Chocobo interactions, giving a taste of the RPG's new systems and open-world elements introduced in this trilogy installment. The file size is 45GB on Switch 2 and 91GB on Xbox Series X/S, as reported by Eurogamer.net.

This continues Square Enix's push to bring the full Remake trilogy to Switch 2 and Xbox, broadening access following the original PlayStation releases.
