Jose Manuel Ochotorena, born in San Sebastian in 1961, died on October 27, 2025, at age 64. The Spaniard had a distinguished career as both a player and coach in soccer.

As a player, Ochotorena rose through Real Madrid's youth ranks and featured in the senior squad from 1982 to 1988, winning three La Liga titles, two UEFA Cups, and one Copa de la Liga. He joined Valencia in 1988, making over 100 appearances, and earned the Zamora Trophy for the lowest goals-to-games ratio in the 1989-1990 season. After leaving Liverpool, he returned to Valencia as goalkeeper coach and joined Spain's staff from 2004 to 2021, contributing to back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012, plus the 2010 World Cup.
