Former NFL scout John Middlekauff believes Mike McCarthy can lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a strong regular season record if given the right roster and quarterback.
Middlekauff made the comments recently on his podcast. He said McCarthy has shown he knows what he is doing since leaving the Green Bay Packers.
McCarthy was hired by the Steelers this offseason after Mike Tomlin stepped down. The team has not won a playoff game in nearly a decade. Middlekauff noted McCarthy's record with the Dallas Cowboys from 2020 to 2024, when the team won 12 games in three of five seasons and reached the playoffs each time.
He placed more blame on quarterback Dak Prescott for the Cowboys' postseason shortcomings than on McCarthy. The Steelers hope McCarthy can deliver better playoff results than in his previous stops.
