Frolunda suffer back-to-back defeats after home loss to Lulea

Frolunda experienced their first consecutive losses of the season in the Swedish Hockey League, falling 2-1 to Lulea at home. This defeat marked only their second home loss in the league. Despite outshooting their opponents in the final period, Frolunda could not mount a comeback.

Frolunda entered the match as heavy favorites after an 11-game winning streak was snapped by Linkoping in their previous outing. Lulea, the reigning champions, were also looking to rebound from two straight defeats. The game took place in Gothenburg, where Frolunda had been unbeaten at home since a 2-1 loss to Leksand on October 4.

The visitors struck first after 11 minutes when Otto Leskinen's shot from distance deflected past the goalkeeper, giving Lulea a 1-0 lead. Lulea successfully killed off three Frolunda power plays in the opening half, maintaining their advantage into the second period.

Late in the middle frame, Linus Omark's centering pass deflected off Isac Hedqvist's skate into the net. A video review confirmed the goal, extending Lulea's lead to 2-0. Frolunda responded early in the third period, with Max Lindholm capitalizing on a power play three minutes in to narrow the gap to 2-1.

The home side dominated shots in the final period, registering seven to Lulea's two, but failed to find an equalizer. The loss drops Frolunda from the top spot, while Lulea climbs to eighth in the standings.

This result highlights a rare vulnerability for Frolunda, who had dominated the league earlier in the season. Lulea's resilience, particularly in special teams, proved decisive in securing the upset.
