Google is introducing a dynamic homepage for its Images tool and AI-powered image generation in search results to mark the feature's 25th anniversary.
The company will launch a browsable homepage featuring a real-time image gallery tailored to users' interests based on their search and web history. Users can save images into themed collections that appear as tabs above the main gallery for quick access.
The homepage update will roll out over the coming weeks on desktop in the US in English. Google is also adding its Nano Banana model to AI Overviews, allowing users to generate custom images directly from text prompts in search.
This image generation feature will arrive over the coming weeks in regions that already support image creation in AI Mode and will be available in English. Both updates build on the original launch of Google Images in July 2001.
